Disaster Recovery Policy

The disaster recovery procedures in this policy apply to IT Services and all Externis Users who are responsible for systems or for a collection of data held either remotely on a server or on the hard disk of a computer.

Disaster Recovery Plan/Procedures

Externis network relies on the Microsoft AZURE Cloud Services. Externis is a partner of Microsoft and use the Azure Cloud Services to host web sites, databases, and data. Specific documentation on the MS Azure Services may be requested to the Externis IT Services.

User Responsibilities

All Externis users should make preparation for a disaster event in which IT equipment or data is destroyed.  Users should:

  • Ensure that they have backup up all important data stored on equipment owned by or assigned to them. IT Services can provide detailed advice on how best to achieve this.

Best Practice Disaster Recovery Procedures

The disaster recovery plan is defined as the on-going process of planning developing and implementing disaster recovery management procedures and processes to ensure the efficient and effective resumption of vital Externis functions in the event of an unscheduled interruption.

  • Critical Application Assessment
    • An assessment to identify the single point of failure leads the following conclusions:
      • All servers are redundant and backed up with Azure recovery system
      • Customer databases have a point in time recovery up to 35 days.
  • Backup Procedures
    • The Pool SQL Azure offer a point in time recovery up to 35 days et a long-time recovery up to 3 months. In case of serious data loss, a backup can be selected at any time 35 days back or any day 3 month back.
  • Recovery Procedures
    • All API and Front servers have been made redundant, in case of one server fails the second server is available. If all servers fail a backup is available and can be rebuild.
